Party People!

Friday we kicked off a weekend full of fun! First up, I volunteered at Mason's class Easter party! We were also assigned that day for snacks so I got the cutest "cupcake pull-apart-cake." I thought it was really fun and the kids seemed to love it when I walked in!

Lisa, a friend I graduated with, has a child (Lily) in Mason's class, and we helped with a "What's Missing?" game table. It was lots of fun and Mason enjoyed me being there!

Here is Mason's at Mary Sue's mom's table playing a carrot fishing game!

Saturday we headed to Stonebridge to celebrate Paige's 3rd birthday! Sweet little Paige lives in south Louisiana so she had her party at her grandparents house! Aren't they sweet!! Paige's daddy is in Iraq with his National Guard unit so I'm sure Paige missed him on her special day. I am glad we were able to celebrate with her, Michael, her brother, and mom, Mary Lea, plus other friends as well!

After Paige's party the boys & I went to see my sister at her new house. It was a little chaotic because they were wanting to jump on her couch and touch all of her new things and she isn't even moved in all the way yet so we didn't stay too long!
Finally after a long day we make the trek back to the country!
Sunday was my first day to teach my new Sunday School class!! I was very excited!! I ended up with 6 kids, ages 1 - 4, so I had my hands full! Since it was our first day together as a class I thought it would be fitting to talk about in the beginning when God created the world. Here are some of the kiddos drawing pictures of their favorite thing God made!

After church I went to Shreveport to look for Mason & Conner's Easter outfits for next week and then to a bridal shower for my boss's future daughter-in-law in Blanchard. Best wishes to Adam & Jessie!
Small world because at the shower I ran into a sorority sister from Tech, Meredith, and Lindsey, who I don't really know but we seem to always be at the same parties!
I headed back into Shreveport to go shoe shopping -- yea, yea!! I had a bunch of "birthday month coupons" to use and I ended up getting $25 off a pair of black sandals at DSW! Saw some more long lost friends at Target so in between shopping and catching up I got home really late and was very tired!
But it was great day and I'm glad we had such a fun weekend! Now we are on Spring Break and I can't wait to share all of our excitement!

AGONY! PURE AGONY!

That's right tonight I'm in agony . . . I can barely move . . .

Many of you know my brother and his wife own an Anytime Fitness near my house. They opened this time last year. This time last year I was super excited about going to the gym and working out!! My good friend Kelly and I had our workout schedule and one of the many blessings of the gym was that it gave us a time to re-connect! We were faithful every Sunday, Tuesday, & Thursday at 8:00 p.m. you could find us at the gym!

We both had vacations planned - me to Orange Beach, her to Las Vegas - so we needed to be cute in our swimsuits!! Josh got me on a work out plan. I started eating more chicken and turkey and salads and less candy and gulp . . . no Coke's.

**Which, as an aside, Coke and candy are my addiction, my vice. I allow myself one Coke per day and I literally fall asleep thinking about drinking a nice cold Coke. To put it in perspective, my sister volunteered to quit drinking Dr. Pepper in support of her paralegal who was giving up smoking . . . well my sister is back drinking Dr. Pepper but her paralegal has given up cigarettes! Seriously, we can't live without it!**

Anyway, Coke's are part of my problem - I don't want to quit! But last year I did - I got toned, I had muscles and by the time I paid $40 for a spray-on tan I was beach ready!!

And then I came home and I ate, ate, and ate and went to the gym on occasion to socialize and possibly walk on the treadmill!

Which brings me to now - its almost summertime and I look like someone's mother -- what's that you say? I am someone's mother?? Oh right, but I don't want to look like one!

So last night I hit the gym, sans Kelly because she had plans, and today I am moaning and groaning about long ago forgotten muscles that are now screaming for a hot bath but it felt good!! I was sweating and feeling the bulging belly get a teeny tiny bit smaller and it was fun!

Who cares if I only lasted 2:58 on the StairClimber compared to the girl before me who did about 15 minutes barely breaking a sweat??? I still put in time on the Elliptical and the Treadmill and lifted weights! I may be hiding my summer body in the mountains this year but at least I'll be able to make it up the mountain!!!

It is hard to be motivated to go to the gym late at night but its worth it when I feel good about myself and I know that I am taking care of myself and doing my part to protect my future health! And once we get rid of all the Easter candy around my house it may actually be possible to shed a few pounds!! I can't wait!

If you live in the Stonewall area you should join me at Anytime Fitness - its fun, its convenient, and its good for you!

~~~I should really end this blog post but then I will have to remove my body from this chair and well it hurts to much to do that!~~~
The Kind of Day that Begins and End with a Bath!
This weekend I had a good time telling funny stories about my kids to my girlfriends! And today is definitely one of those good story tellin' days!
I am a big fan of footed sleepers for Conner, because my feet are always cold even under covers so I can only imagine that his are too. But a week or so ago it was a warm night so I let him sleep in a two piece pants & shirt PJ set. When I went to get him up to take Mason to school I realized from the waist down he was naked and covered in pee!! Sometime in the night he had thrown his pants out of the crib and taken off his diaper! I decided to stick with the footed PJs until we were out of this phase!
For nap on Sunday he was fully dressed (it was snowing) in a snapped onesie with pants and a pull-up - I went to check on him and he had taken off his pants, un-snapped his onesie and pulled his Pull-Up off and was hanging out in his crib!
So Sunday night I took extra care to zip him up and do the top button of his PJ's . . . so imagine my surprise on Monday morning when I went to get him and his was butt naked and soaked in pee!!
He went straight to the bathtub, which I felt bad for him because he was freezing and he wanted his Teddy, which went straight in the washer! I don't know how to keep him dressed in the night! Here's praying tonight will go better!
Mason was home today too since he'd been running fever so we just had a really low-key morning.
After Conner's nap, it warmed up so went outside and hid Easter eggs and played around!
Mason decided to drive his Jeep down to the creek to throw rocks! It was so pretty outside I couldn't resist!
Mason, Conner, Kitty, & Big Dog enjoying the beautiful sunshine!
After dinner, Ryan grabbed his rod and reel and headed down to the pond. Of course the boys wanted to go too so we all headed down there too. Ryan caught a fish with his first cast! Mason was so EXCITED!! I think we were making too much noise so I told the boys to follow me to the other side of the pond to look for frogs because Mason and I had found tons of frogs down there before.
I was like one-step behind lightning bolt Conner, but that was just far enough to let him get a head start for the water and . . . splash! Down he goes - his boots sunk in the mud and he fell over. That is still very dangerous but luckily the water was only a few inches deep and I was right there.
I hauled him right back to the house - soaking wet - and poured the water out of his rubber boots! Poor thing - cold again! He was covered in mud from head to toe so straight to bath he went!
I think for a little country boy, though, a day that begins and ends with baths means that you've had a really great day!!
Girls Weekend!
Still slacking on my pictures promise but I'll get there I swear!!
This weekend was my college girls weekend and we all converged late Friday night upon Benton, Louisiana! We had tons of fun catching up! Holly Doyal just started a new business, the Pink Popsicle, and so we put her to work monogramming and sewing appliques almost as soon as we arrived!
Saturday we woke up and headed to straight to Hobby Lobby to get more fabric and Easter crafts for baby Nolan's daycare class. I found the CUTEST cowboy fabric and Holly is going to make me pillowcase with red horseshoe trim mongrammed with Conner's name. Also some bandana fabric to make an applique tractor for both boys! She is still working on that so I'll show pictures when I get it back!
We were starved by then so we went to Monjuni's - all the out-of-towners missed their good food. Next stop Target to pick up some more clothes to monogram! Holly is going to busy!
A first for even the locals we went to the Cupcake Gallery and got some treats. Next to Pioneer Comfort Systems to catch some fellow Tech alum, Carrie with 3 Little Monkey's Boutique and Stacey, with La-Te-Da Designs, then off to Missy's new home in Old Oakes - so gorgeous!!
Finally we head back to Benton, where we immediately change back into our PJ's and put Holly to work!
We left Sunday morning in the SNOW even though when we arrived on Friday it was a beautiful 75 degree day!
I got home just in time because Mason was complaining of an ear ache and sure enough he was running 101 fever. He says he told Ryan that morning that his ear hurt but Ryan didn't hear him because he was still sleeping -- of course, my Mommy ears would have heard that cry for help so I'm sad I wasn't there to help him! Mason & I snuck in a quick nap before Conner woke up so I'm finally refreshed from my time away.
Love the girls and can't wait to see them again in September, but glad to be home!
Busy Bees!
Whew! We have been so busy lately!!
Friday
Today was Conner's birthday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNER!! Poor thing felt no good all day! From about 3 - 8 he laid on my chest which is not like Conner at all!! He ran fever and all around felt miserable! We had saved our gifts for him for today and he wouldn't open them or play with them. He wouldn't even eat his ice cream supper! My sweet Little - I love you!!!
Saturday
I was a little anxious about leaving Conner today but he woke up and started dancing and playing with his new basketball goal! Prayers answered! Today I was attending Standing in the Gap at our church. This is the 6th annual ladies meeting hosted by my church, Fellowship Community, and I'm a little ashamed to say that its the first one I've been to! I didn't invite anyone because I really didn't know what it was about but I did you all a disservice because it was wonderful! We had three speakers from our church and two from two different churches and singing and lots of good food! So next year mark your calendars around the second weekend in March!!
I got home from that around 2:30 and Ryan headed out to get his haircut so me and the boys played and cleaned up before Mason and I headed to LA Cheernastics for Madison's 5th birthday! Madison is Mason's friend from the baby-sitters and they are in the same class together! Mason had so much fun!! There were about five kids from his pre-k class and he enjoyed seeing them outside of school! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADISON!
We headed out a little earlier to make it to Erica's 24th Birthday Surprise Party at All-Star Lanes Bowling Alley and imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw my friends!! So surprise to me as well!!! Turns out Ryan, Josh, and Amy had been planning Erica & I a joint surprise party!! We had 6 lanes reserved - 2 for kids and 4 for adults! It was so much fun!! I think the kids may have had more fun - they enjoyed it so much!
I didn't bring my camera so all the pictures are on my sisters camera! I will have to start bringing my camera everywhere I guess because I don't have pictures of anything from this weekend!
THANK YOU RYAN!! AND AMY AND JOSH!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERICA!
Sunday
Wow - I'm tired and want my extra hour back!! Today is my sister's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY! After church we headed to my mom's to eat lunch to celebrate Amy's birthday! My mom makes FABULOUS homemade banana ice cream and we all fight over it so I was very upset when I learned she was making birthday ice cream and I had to leave! I knew Josh & Amy would eat all of it! Luckily they saved me some!
We had to head out early because Mason has been begging me to go to a hockey game with him and Ryan and today was the only day I could make it! So off we headed to the Mudbugs game and Conner stayed home and played with Kennedy. We had a really great time and Mason enjoyed telling me all about the game and showing me how its done!
Monday
Back to school! Conner and I cleaned house and got ready for more busy times! Tonight I had a Sunday School meeting at church and a meeting to get ready for the upcoming Community Crusade for Christ. Pastor Steven from Uganda is coming to do a community wide revival on April 8 - 11! ALL ARE INVITED!!! I'll blog a little more about that later but I am SO EXCITED!! I want to rock the house African style - I think its going to be great!! Start praying about attending - God is sending us a missionary from Africa and that doesn't happen every day! And if you love my Ugandan magazine beads, which I wear everywhere, I'm sure you can get some from Pastor Steven!
Tuesday
Mason gave a big "Woo, Hoo" for today! Its his first T-ball practice!! We are playing on a different team this year but I think its going to be great! He is so excited! Conner and I played with Nora Jo while her Mommy and Ryan coached. It was fun!
Wednesday
Hopefully things are starting to calm down! Conner & I headed to Wal-mart and the car wash early this morning. Also to Ranchland to exchange my new cowboy boots that the boys gave me for my birthday. They didn't have my size so I have some on order. I can't wait to wear them!
My girls weekend is coming up on Friday and I have lots to do to get this ready for Ryan to be in charge! He is going to the Winter Jam 2010 at the CenturyTel Century on Saturday so I need to start making my notes for the baby-sitter since it will kill me not to be here to talk to her myself!!
Can't wait to see my college girls and hang out! Maybe next week I'll get to sleep!
30 YEARS OF BLESSINGS!
On Sunday, I celebrated my 30th birthday! And of course I got lots of old jokes and what not but I began to think that 30 isn't so bad! I've had 30 years of blessings and love and happiness . . . which brings me to the 30 things I'm most thankful for in my lifetime - enjoy!
1. I was born in America and free to believe and do as I please.
2. I was born to parents who love God with their wholeselves. And they are caring and generous and even after 30 years they still take care of me and I know they will always be there for me and my family.
3. I was also born into a family with a 3 year old big sister, Amy, who, although did her fair share of tormenting me when we were younger, loves me greatly. She has taken care of me, loaned me money when I was in college and desperate and with no real way to pay her back but she believed in me and in my future. She has spent countless hours standing up for me when I was too weak to do it myself and more countless hours being a fabulous aunt to my children and I love her!
4. For two years, my father labored by hand to cut logs for our home, to journey into old water wells to recover bricks to make our floor, and spent untold hours away from us to build our home built with love and his two hands.
5. I was then blessed with a brother named, Joshua! I remember telling my mother that I didn't ask for him and to please send him back! So I guess torturing is just something big sisters do! We grew on each other and now I consider him to be my friend as well as my brother and I am proud of the godly and loving person he has become!
6. In 1984, weeks after giving birth to Josh and at my insistence, my parents sent me to Central School, where I met Rachel and Anna (actually I may have already known Anna but I was too young to remember!) and they are my oldest friends!! Rachel was actually at Conner's party this weekend! And there I also developed my lifelong love for learning!
7. From there, I met Rachel's sister, Mary Lea, who became the mother hen of our group, and Lauren, who later was my college roommate, and Elise, who was and is my partner in crime, my confidante, and the holder of too many secrets to ever let go! The six of us, The Gloster Girls, were inseperable and amazingly, even though we all at one point in time "loved" the same boy, we are all still friends and still talk, email, or text on a regular basis!
8. My family has been blessed to be able to travel together every year that I can remember - many memories have come from these outings to Colorado, West Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Arkansas, and many small places in between.
9. When I was ten years old I made the best decisions of my life and I've forever been changed because I allowed Jesus to come in my heart!
10. In 7th grade I made the decision to switch schools and it was another decision that ranks up there with the most important ones - it was the best decision I could have made at the ripe ol' age of 12! North DeSoto opened up opportunities and experiences I would have never had otherwise.
11. At North DeSoto I made many great friends including, Ashly, my pregancy talk buddy and amazing photographer, Robin, another college roommate and T-ball mom, and Kelly, my work out buddy (i.e. gossip partner while we treadmill a little longer than necessary!), my freak out buddy, pre-k mommy buddy, and lots of other things in between!
12. I was also blessed with intelligence - not at all trying to be boastful because I'm by no means a genius but God has blessed me with the ability to do well in school and for that I am especially thankful!
13. My Gloster Girls and I all went to church together and this helped strengthen our bond to not only grow up together physically but spiritually as well. To have 5 best friends who all love Jesus and all participate in Youth Group together was such a blessing!
14. I was able to graduate as Valedictorian and was offered scholarships to all seven of the colleges I applied to.
15. I chose LA Tech and I am so glad I did!! Go Bulldogs!
16. At Tech, I was introduced to Holly, whom I met at the laundrymat, Missy, who I met in the hallway at Adams Dorm and tried to show her around only to find out she was my RA, Kandy, who "picked me up" during Rush, Holly D, who was in my pledge class - together with Lauren, my childhood Gloster Girls friend, we became as we call ourselves, the College Gang!
17. My Sophomore year in college I helped some friends with their English papers and in return I got set up on my 100th blind date . . . and amazingly later on I married him!
18. I moved in with my high school friend, Robin, and her friend, Christi! Christi and I immediately hit it off and together the three of us turned 21 together, goofed of every quarter during finals, had Sex and the City marathon watching parties, and had tons of fun - it was the greatest!
19. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tech in the Spring of 2002! Yea!
20. I got a job!! My company, who I initially turned down about 3 times, has been the best! They supported me through my MBA program, wedding, two children, etc. I am so thankful for them!
21. I got married!! Ryan & I got married on April 5, 2003 - it was a great day followed by a super honeymoon to Niagara Falls and Toronto! Ryan has been awesome! He is an unbelievable father - comes straight home from work and immediately plays with the kids and asks about their day. Spends lots of time reading to them and taking them around town to hockey games, baseball practices, shopping, etc. He has wholeheartedly supported me and made sacrifices so that I could stay home with the babies and put up with me on the days I have to work late. He loves me unconditionally and I am so happy we are together!
22. I graduated Tech with my MBA!
23. One of my biggest blessings arrived -Mason! He was a joyous and happy baby and he is still the most loving little boy I could have ever asked for! He is my heart!
24. Ryan, Mason, & I began building our new home on my childhood "dream home" location! I am so happy to be here and look out my window at God's beautiful earth!
25. About 7 months after we moved in, we added another blessing - Conner!! Conner is a mess and I love him like no other!! He is so independent and smart! He is a little more stingy with the loving than Mason but that makes his hugs and kisses all the more sweet! I couldn't be more proud of my family!
26. Two months after Conner was born, we had another addition - my sweet brother found him a sweet wife, Erica! Erica is such a doll - crafty, creative, sweet - a great sister-in-law and even better friend! Couldn't have asked for a better wife for my Joshie!
27. God continued to bless me by allowing me to work part-time so I could spend more time with my precious little ones and my boss was great about easing my work load!
28. Another fantastic addition to my fab family - Amy married Blake!! Blake is someone I know I can always count on! He's the kind of guy who will crawl under your car in his dress clothes on a dirt road to check things out for you (he's done it before!) and the kind of guy who loves my kids and takes them cotton pickin'! Couldn't have asked for a better husband for my sweet sister!
29. Of course, along the way I've made many more friends that I haven't mentioned here and consider some to be more precious than family! I have led a very blessed life and am so grateful to my God for my sweet friends who laugh with me, cry with me, laugh at me sometimes, and most of all just let me be me!
30. And thanks to my awesome family below for surprising me at Olive Garden on Sunday and for loving me and encouraging me there was no one else I'd rather celebrate my 3oth birthday with than ya'll!
**If any of you use Blogger then you know the formatting stinks!! So I promise there is supposed to be one line of spacing between all my #'s not more not less. Sorry for however it turns out when I hit "Publish!"**
SHAPES & COLORS PARTY!!
My little man, Conner, is turning two next Friday, and we celebrated today with a Shapes & Colors themed birthday party! It turned out super cute and Conner had lots of fun!
Each family was assigned a color to wear and everyone played along well! I pulled out my scrapbook stuff and found all my cirles, ovals, rectangles, squares, and triangles and made labels for all the food . . . square label for crackers, triangle for do-it-yourself PB&J, circle for Bagel Bites, etc. My sister-in-law, Erica, made some fabulous cakes that went along with our theme! And we decorated with balloons and multi-colored triangle flags and all our tableware was different colors - red square plates, yellow round plates, and so on.
We had a craft project to do make but the weather was so beautiful it was hard to get the kids inside so most took theirs homes instead. Of course, it was colors and shapes related, mulit-colored heart, flower, star, square, and diamond shaped foam frames where I framed a picture of each guest with foam stickers to decorate.
My precious, Little, is getting big! We still call him "Baby" and "Little" more often than we say Conner so I am very sad he is getting so big! I asked Mason after the party who he had the most fun playing with and he said "Baby!" They are such good friends!! Ryan & I are so blessed to have such adorable and sweet boys!!
Thanks to all our friends and family for coming over and loving on our little one!
